Mendocino
is a small village that sits on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean along California's scenic, rugged northern coast. National Geographic Traveler Magazine has named California's northern coast as "one of the top unspoiled destination points in the world." In the middle of this natural beauty, the small town of Mendocino has a New England-style charm and has become a haven for artists who are inspired by their surroundings. The drive to Mendocino will take you through forests of towering California Redwoods that seem to rise majestically from the sea, over winding roads that eventually open up to give you a glimpse of this pretty little town sat perched like a painting against the blue of the ocean. This is Mendocino. Once in town, visitors enjoy taking their time to explore the dozens of shops, art galleries, cafes and restaurants that line the streets that overlook the ocean. After a leisurely lunch in town, hike the headlands and beautiful gardens that lead to the ocean, or pack a picnic lunch and enjoy eating as you take in the panoramic views. There is also biking, horseback riding, fishing, canoeing and kayaking in nearby Big River, and golf, tennis, spas, theater, live music, garden tours, gambling and wine tasting nearby. You can visit the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse and Montgomery Woods, home to the world's tallest tree. Mendocino also holds several special events throughout the year, such as the Crab and Wine Festival in January/February, the Mendocino Music Festival in July and the Wine and Mushroom Fest in November. Whether you come for the outdoor recreation, the quaint shops, or for the wonderful scenery, Mendocino in remote northern California is a treat for the senses.

Mendocino Weather & Climate
The rugged northern Pacific Coast, north of the San Francisco Bay Area, experiences a mild climate year round. There is very little variation in temperature from winter, spring, summer and fall. Summers are dry, but typically cool and foggy right along the coast. Further inland, near the Anderson Valley, temperatures will be warmer with more sunny days. Be advised that it can be in the 60s in the Mendocino coast area, and just 30 miles inland the temperature can be in the 90s. Cool ocean breezes and a thick marine layer helps moderate coastal temperatures. If visiting during wintertime, there is a good chance it will rain during your stay. November through March are the wettest months. Fall is generally the sunniest time along the northern Pacific Coast.
