Lake-Wildwood
is a private, gated community located in picturesque Penn Valley in the lovely Sierra Nevada foothills. The city of Sacramento is just one hour away and the historic gold mining towns of Grass Valley, Rough and Ready and Nevada City are a short 15-minute drive from Lake Wildwood. The lake itself is 300 acres with 7.5 miles of beautiful shoreline. Residents enjoy four sandy beaches with picnic areas, swimming, fishing, water skiing, boating, canoeing and kayaking. Lake Wildwood is also home to a beautiful private championship golf course. The golf course is set on 165 acres and includes a pro shop, locker rooms, showers, sauna, clubhouse and cocktail lounge. There is also a swimming pool and tennis courts located at Lake Wildwood. In wintertime, a one hour drive takes you to the High Sierras and the world class ski resorts of Lake Tahoe. Each year, Lake Wildwood puts on an exciting fun-filled 4th of July celebration. All the traditional activities are included such as family picnics, a parade, great music, dancing, a cake walk, games and of course, spectacular fireworks! The Gold Rush Country in the Sierra Nevada foothills of northern California enjoys four seasons. Although not as pronounced as the seasons in the eastern U.S., they are distinct. Summers are warm and dry, with pleasant temperatures and not the extreme heat of the lower valley regions. Autumn has mild days and crisp, cool nights and the leaves take on the hues of gold, yellow and purple. Winters are mild during the day with cold temperatures at night. Occasionally snow falls at these elevations, but rarely sticks for more than a few hours. Cool rainy days are the normal winter weather pattern, with the rainy season running November through March. Spring is delightful as the days lengthen and wildflowers spread over the hills.
