Crescent-City
is located in extreme northern California, just 20 miles from the Oregon border. This pristine area is an outdoor lover's dream! Crescent City is within close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, the Redwood National and State Parks, the Smith River and Klamath Rivers, and the Smith River National Recreational Area. Unparalleled beauty abounds in this area where "the redwoods meet the sea," making it a place you will want to visit more than once! Some of the activities available in Crescent City are hiking, biking, kayaking, surfing, and camping. You can fish for salmon and steelhead October through February, and go whale-watching December through March. The wild and wonderful Smith River Gorge is just a short 15-minute drive from Crescent City, and offers great white water rafting! Spring is gorgeous in Crescent City and is a wonderful time for wildflower and wildlife viewing. Or, simply sit back and listen to the sound of the waves - you can't go wrong in Crescent City. Other interesting attractions in the area are the Del Norte County Museum, the Lighthouse Museum and the St. George's Reef and Battery Point lighthouses. Crescent City Weather & Climate

Northwest California near the Smith River and the Oregon border has a cool weather climate year round. Summer temperatures are normally around the 65-degree mark, and rarely exceed 80 degrees. Unlike many other parts of the state, rain can be expected almost any month of the year, although the official rainy season runs October through March or early April. The average annual rainfall is 75 inches per year. Located near the Pacific Ocean, this region frequently experiences low clouds and fog right along the coastline, with clearing the further inland you travel. The same cool, ocean mists that nurture the giant redwoods of the region provide relief for visitors who come to the area to escape the summer heat of the interior valleys.
