Twin-Lakes
is located on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains off Highway 395 in Mono County. This small resort community is nestled inside the Toiyabe National Forest, and at an elevation of 7000 feet, offers exceptional scenic beauty. The pristine lake is surrounded by mountain oaks and pines, and sits in one of the most rugged and mountainous regions of the state. Twin Lakes and the surrounding area offers boating and swimming, hiking, backpacking, mountain climbing, horseback riding and primitive camping. The lake has exceptional fishing and is stocked with trout and scrappy pan fish. Twin Lakes is located near the towns of Bridgeport and Mono Village, which is a full service resort area. Here you will find a 300-space campground, shopping, hotels and motels, boat rentals and more. Mono Village also hosts a Friday night barbecue, Memorial Day through Labor Day. Twin Lakes is a true vacation hideaway with picture postcard scenery all year round. Whether you come for a family vacation, or a relaxing and private get-a-way, Twin Lakes is definitely one of the "jewels of the Sierra."

The Central Sierra Nevada Mountains , near Yosemite National Park, experiences four exciting seasons. Summers are warm to hot with occasional rain or thunderstorms (especially in the higher elevations.) Fall is variable with conditions that can run from warm to cold, wet to dry to snowy. Most of Yosemite National Park stays open through November, but short-term closures can occur due to snow. Winter in the Central Sierra Nevada Mountains is very snowy and cold. The amounts and intensity of storms can be quite severe at elevations above 7,000 feet. Tire chains are often required on many of the mountain roads in winter. Spring is sunny and relatively mild but can still experience a snowstorm. With rains and snow melt, spring is one of the best times to see the many beautiful waterfalls in the area.
