Sunnyvale
is located in the Silicon Valley, south of San Francisco, just off Highway 101 between Palo Alto and San Jose. It is generally thought of as part of the San Jose metro area but is ideally situated near both San Jose and San Francisco. Sunnyvale has a high quality of life in a beautiful suburban setting. It's recognized both statewide and nationally for its low crime rate and its' acclaimed park system. The city holds a weekly "Urban Village Farmers' Market" which is a very nice place to shop for fresh produce, flowers, crafts, and sample foods while you stroll around listening to live music. Sunnyvale's mild climate, award winning parks and close proximity to the ocean provides lots of outdoor recreational opportunities. The city parks offer swimming, hiking trails, children's play areas, as well as craft and workshop classes for young and old. Golf is a major activity in the area and many championship courses can be found within 40-minutes of the city. An easy drive takes you to the world class shopping, restaurants and attractions of San Francisco, and San Jose, which was recently, named "Most Fun City in America." Sunnyvale is an excellent place to base a San Francisco Bay/Silicon Valley vacation, with excellent services, restaurants and lodging facilities.

Mild weather without extremes best typifies the climate of the north-central coast of California near San Jose. Located midway between San Francisco and Monterey Bay, this region has over 300 days of sunshine per year and an average annual temperature of 70 degrees. Most evenings are cool - even in summertime - but pleasantly so. Days are neither too hot nor too cold, and most precipitation is received October through March in the form of rain. In summer, a seasonal blanket of fog often hugs the coastline and can block out the sun for days, although usually it burns off by midday. Fall is often the sunniest and warmest season, without the fog of summer or the clouds of wintertime.
