Los-Altos-Hills is primarily a residential community located in the Silicon Valley. This upscale neighborhood is only 35 miles south of San Francisco and 17 miles north of San Jose, but is a world apart from the hustle and bustle of the cities. Los Altos Hills is 8.4 square miles of gently rolling hills and valleys, wooded areas with creeks and streams. Los Altos Hills has an interesting history, and was originally settled by the Spanish, and later was the site of cattle ranches, vineyards and orchards. Wealthy San Franciscans came to Los Altos Hills to build summer and weekend retreats. Today, the town has a unique large lot-zoning rule in order to preserve the open space surrounding the town, and thus maintaining it's rural atmosphere. Seventy-five miles of pathways meander through the hills and valleys around Los Altos Hills, perfect for hiking, jogging, bicycling or horseback riding. The pathway system links the town to the surrounding open space and to various areas of the community. Los Altos Hills and the adjacent town of Los Altos offer a vast array of shopping and dining opportunities. Everything from specialty restaurants to Asian, Mexican and French can be found in Los Altos Hills. This premier Silicon Valley community is a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy all the privacy and special amenities this valley has to offer!

Los Altos Hills Weather & Climate

Mild weather without extremes best typifies the climate of the north-central coast of California near San Jose. Located midway between San Francisco and Monterey Bay, this region has over 300 days of sunshine per year and an average annual temperature of 70 degrees. Most evenings are cool - even in summertime - but pleasantly so. Days are neither too hot nor too cold, and most precipitation is received October through March in the form of rain. In summer, a seasonal blanket of fog often hugs the coastline and can block out the sun for days, although usually it burns off by midday. Fall is often the sunniest and warmest season, without the fog of summer or the clouds of wintertime.
