Ross
is a community located in the San Francisco Bay Area, between the cities of Mill Valley and San Rafael. It has a small town atmosphere, yet, as part of Marin County, is near many attractions and outdoor recreational opportunities. Ross is just 25 minutes to the Golden Gate Bridge and the city of San Francisco, approximately 40 minutes to the Wine Country, and 50 minutes to Point Reyes National Seashore and Stinson Beach. Mount Tamalpais is right at the town's back door, making Ross famous as a base for those who come to hike the famous mountain. Mount Tamalpais State Park contains 6,300 acres of redwood groves, oak woodlands and spectacular views from its' peaks. On a clear day, visitors can see the Marin County hills, the city of San Francisco and all the way out to sea to the Farallon Islands. There are 50 miles of hiking trails in the park. Other activities in or near Ross include mountain biking, swimming, golf, horseback riding, fishing, sailing, windsurfing, miniature golf and sightseeing. Ross has a charming downtown with shopping, dining and antique stores. A short drive takes you to San Francisco and world class restaurants, shopping and the many sightseeing opportunities of the city such as Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Park and Chinatown. Other nearby attractions include Muir Woods, the Marin Headlands, Point Bonita Lighthouse, Angel Island and Alcatraz Island.

Ross Weather & Climate

The Northern Coast of California, including the areas of Stinson Beach, Mill Valley and Point Reyes Station, is a year-round destination, and its climate is as varied as the geography. Summers are mostly dry all over, with frequent low clouds and morning fog along the coast. Winters along the coast are generally mild. Rain occurs most frequently and heavily October-April, with January being the wettest month. The San Francisco Bay Area can be cool and damp in the summer (due to the fog,) which surprises many visitors. However, just a few miles inland the weather is very different with warmer temperatures and more sunshine. Cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean help keep summer from becoming too hot and winters from being too cold.
