Larkspur
has a charming downtown area that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A walk down the brick-lined sidewalks of Magnolia Avenue to the cafes, first-class restaurants, boutiques and specialty shops and you'll sense the history, beauty and culture this small town thrives on. Located in Marin County just north of San Francisco, Larkspur is a town that many people miss as they hurry along busy Highway 101 to San Francisco. However, it's a beautiful little town that makes a quiet spot to stop and relax, dine, shop and play, without the crowds and parking problems of other cities of the Bay Area. There are ten parks in town with everything from horseshoes and hiking to swimming and windsurfing. The Escalle Winery is located at the north end of town and is host to the Marin Scapes Landscape Art Exhibit each year. Larkspur is just a short drive to all of the Marin County attractions such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Muir Woods, Stinson Beach and Point Reyes National Seashore. The Larkspur Landing offers ferry rides to San Francisco with fantastic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Angel Island, Sausalito and Tiburon. Like all of the cities by the Bay, Larkspur enjoys a temperate, marine climate with mild winters and sunny, dry summers with occasional fog. A light coat or jacket is recommended in the evenings in all seasons.

Larkspur Weather & Climate

The Northern Coast of California, including the areas of Stinson Beach, Mill Valley and Point Reyes Station, is a year-round destination, and its climate is as varied as the geography. Summers are mostly dry all over, with frequent low clouds and morning fog along the coast. Winters along the coast are generally mild. Rain occurs most frequently and heavily October-April, with January being the wettest month. The San Francisco Bay Area can be cool and damp in the summer (due to the fog,) which surprises many visitors. However, just a few miles inland the weather is very different with warmer temperatures and more sunshine. Cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean help keep summer from becoming too hot and winters from being too cold.
