Redway
is a small town in the Northern California Redwoods area of Humboldt County. This village of approximately 2,000 sits inland near the neighboring town of Garberville and is surrounded by pristine forestland. There's a great deal to see and do around Redway, starting with a day trip to the Humboldt Redwoods State Park and the Avenue of the Giants. Here you can see some of the world's tallest trees, some of them thousands of years old! If you're looking for outdoor recreation, Redway has much to choose from. The Eel River and Mattole River offer excellent fishing for steelhead trout and salmon. Six Rivers National Forest, Sinkyone Wilderness and Benbow Lake State Recreation Area offer endless opportunities for hiking, biking, golf, swimming, boating and camping. An award winning inn and restaurant, and world class golf resort is located at Benbow. Another interesting day trip from Redway is to The Lost Coast and small town of Shelter Cove. The rare black sand beach of the Lost Coast that stretches for 25 miles, starting at Shelter Cove will intrigue you. Back in Redway, you'll find lodging, restaurants, colorful shops, a movie theater, and emergency facilities. Everything you'll need for a comfortable, relaxing vacation getaway.

Northwest California has temperatures along the coast that vary only 10 degrees from summer to winter, although a greater range is found over inland areas. During most years, rainfall averages more than 40 inches in the driest areas, and exceeds 100 inches in the zones of heavy precipitation. Most of this comes in the wintertime from storm fronts that move in from the ocean. Due to the moisture and moderate temperature, the average relative humidity is high. Largely as a result of the proximity of the cool Pacific Ocean, the adjoining coastal area has some of the coolest, most stable temperatures to be found in the state. With increasing distance from the ocean, the marine influence is less pronounced and inland areas experience wider variations of temperature and lower humidities. There are thunderstorms in the mountains during the summer, but they are infrequent.
