Covina-Hills is an upscale neighborhood located in the city of West Covina, Los Angeles County. West Covina is the 50th largest city in the state of California, with a population of approximately 105,000. The South Hills area (Covina Hills) is home to some of the most expensive homes in the San Gabriel Valley, if not the whole country. The Covina Hills country club is a private club in the eastern part of the city across from the South Hills High School. The city of West Covina incorporated in 1923 in order to prevent the city of Covina from building an animal farm in the area. Today, West Covina is often mistaken for Covina, but West Covina is actually much larger in both size and population than its neighboring city. West Covina is home to many large businesses and has two major shopping centers. One contains 18 cinemas, several restaurants, a bar and nightclub. Other attractions in the city include a new sportsplex and sports park, and an 18-hole championship golf course. West Covinas Restaurant Row is located east of Citrus Avenue and north of the San Bernardino Freeway and a Farmers Market is held every week in the parking lot of the West Covina Parkway strip mall. Several special events are held throughout the year, also, such as an Independence Day celebration and summertime Movies in the Park.

Covina Hills Weather & Climate

Southern California ,a few miles inland from the ocean, enjoys a mild climate year round. Like most of the state, summers are generally dry due to a semi-permanent high pressure system that sits in the Pacific Ocean and holds storm tracks well to the north. Warm air moving over the cool ocean in summer creates fog that moves in during the evening and early morning hours but almost always dissipates by midday. The rainy season is late October through early April, with March being the wettest month. Some flash flooding can occur when large amounts of rain occur in winter over a period of one or two days. In summertime, very dry conditions in the higher elevations mean forest fires are always a threat. Weather conditions vary widely depending on elevation in southern California. Weather can change rapidly in the mountains, including snow in the wintertime, so visitors are advised to come prepared for a variety of conditions.
