Surfside is a small seaside town located between Long Beach and Huntington Beach along the California Coast Highway 1. It is a gated, and guarded community of beachside homes that is easily accessed by the freeway and close to shopping, restaurants and golf courses. The community of Surfside has been a destination for vacationing Californians escaping the cities since 1929. No two houses in the town are alike, and no home is more than 75 feet from the beach. Various different lodging choices are available in the Surfside, everything from a seaside cottage to a million-dollar beachside luxury home. Activities in the area include swimming, shelling, sunning, kite flying on the beach and kite surfing, kayaking, golf, hiking, biking, surfing and water-skiing. Surfside is just a short drive to many of southern California's major attractions such as Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, the Queen Mary and the Aquarium of the Pacific. The South Coast Plaza offers upscale shopping, and nearby Huntington Beach is known for its five-block stretch downtown of unique shops, boutiques, cafes and fine restaurants. Huntington Beach is also home to the longest municipal recreational pier in the state. Nearby Long Beach is equally as diverse and full of activity, and is also the departure point for stunning Catalina Island.

Surfside Weather & Climate

The beaches and cities along southern California's Pacific Coast enjoy a Mediterranean-type climate of sunny, warm summers and mild wet winters. The rainy season runs from November through March and usually produces no more than 12 inches of rainfall per year. Due to a stable marine layer, any type of precipitation is rare between May and October. The average annual humidity is 64.7 and the average year round temperature is 62 degrees. In summer, temperatures rarely exceed 85 degrees. In the morning and evening there are often strong ocean breezes. In summer, low clouds and fog along the coast give way to sunshine by early afternoon. Frost occurs in the area less than once every ten years.
